Basho/場所 is a concept characterizing one of the studio ́s artistic practice. The term was coined by philosopher Nishida Kitaro and can be translated as place. Looking for a way to approach the dichotomy of subject-object, idealism-realism, experience-reality basho would describe a spatial term of a field, a concrete situation or reality-cum experience, a place where ideal and real are not yet distinct. As a concept integrated into the studio’s practice it can be observed as a way to engage into a dialectics of spatiality.
