Public Space Beirut, 8 Taxis, Goethe Institut Beirut, Zico House Beirut, Gallery SD Beirut, Lebanon
Mobile Installation of 86 hours.
8 local collective taxis follow a given pathway through the city crossing a variety of segregated areas. An electronic sound art piece is displayed during the trip based on a dialogue in the movie « Beirut -The encounter» (1981) by Borhan Alaouie. In the original dialogue the 2 characters of 2 different religions record their thoughts on an audio-tape to each other reflecting two different positions facing civil war, as one decides to leave the city and one decides to stay.
To listen to the sound art piece, passengers can take the taxi at 3 taxi stops or catch it randomly during the trip. 3 Video-Installations are shown in parallel at the Goethe Institute Beirut, Zico House, Gallery Espace SD showing a collage composed of material of the original film and material shot in contemporary Beirut. The work revisits the concept of Habitus after Sociologist Pierre Bourdieu while making use of a common transport system and limited time line.

In a desire of collaboration with some Graffiti Artists present in the urban area of a logo is commissioned to one of them using the letters DLRG (German Life Saving Association) for a series of wearables of team members who participated in the work creation.
